Alerts

Alerts connect Tip payments, Test Sends, and rules with visible alert templates in OBS.

Areas

AreaDescription
QueueShows currently running and waiting alert jobs.
Alert templatesList of your templates and entry point into the Alert Editor.
Active assignmentsRules that decide which template is used for which trigger.

Queue

The queue shows what is currently running in the overlay and what comes next.

ElementMeaning
CurrentThe alert currently shown in the overlay.
#1, #2, …Waiting alerts in playback order.
DurationTemplate duration of the job.
RefreshReloads the queue status.
TrashClears the current queue.

When the queue is empty, the OBS overlay shows no content. That is expected.

Alert Templates

The Alert templates area shows your saved alert templates.

ElementMeaning
Create new alertOpens the Alert Editor for a new template.
Search templatesFilters templates by name or tags.
Template limitShows how much template storage is currently used.
PencilOpens the template in the Alert Editor.
TrashDeletes the template. Rules that use this template are removed as well.

Templates define the appearance: layout, position, blocks, tokens, animations, and duration. Rules then decide when a template enters the queue.

Active Assignments

The Active assignments area contains the alert rules.

A rule answers this question: when a certain tip or goal event happens, which template should be played?

ElementMeaning
New ruleOpens the rule modal.
Search rulesFilters rules by name, condition, or template.
Rules limitShows how many rules are currently used.
Test SendSends a test for this rule to the queue.
PowerEnables or disables the rule.
PencilOpens the rule for editing.
TrashDeletes the rule.

Rule Modal

In the rule modal, you define when a rule matches.

FieldMeaning
NameInternal name of the rule.
TemplateTemplate that should be played.
Type AmountRule reacts to tip amounts.
Type GoalRule reacts to a specific goal.
GoalSelects the goal when type Goal is active.
Goal event ReachedRule matches when the goal was reached.
Goal event AmountRule uses an amount setting for the goal.
Amount mode No rangeMatches all amounts. This mode has no amount field.
Amount mode With rangeRange with From/To, for example >= 5 EUR to <= 20 EUR.
InfiniteSets the upper limit to infinity.

Amount Operators

Operators determine from which amount or up to which amount a rule matches.

OperatorMeaningExample
>Greater than the value. The value itself is not included.> 5 EUR matches from 5.01 EUR.
>=Greater than or equal to the value.>= 5 EUR matches exactly from 5.00 EUR.
=Exactly this value.= 5 EUR matches only exactly 5.00 EUR.
<Less than the value. The value itself is not included.< 10 EUR matches up to 9.99 EUR.
<=Less than or equal to the value.<= 10 EUR matches exactly up to 10.00 EUR.

Range examples:

GoalSetting
From exactly 5 EURFrom >= 5 EUR, To infinity.
More than 5 EURFrom > 5 EUR, To infinity.
From exactly 5 EUR to exactly 10 EURFrom >= 5 EUR, To <= 10 EUR.
More than 5 EUR and less than 10 EURFrom > 5 EUR, To < 10 EUR.
Only exactly 10 EURNo range is not meant for this. Use With range and set From = 10 EUR.

Rule Conflicts

When enabling a rule, KALYIX checks whether active rules overlap. This prevents multiple active rules from covering the same trigger range, which would make it unclear which template should play.

Conflict examples:

Rule ARule BConflict
Payment >= 5 EURPayment >= 10 EURYes, both match from 10 EUR.
Payment >= 5 EUR to <= 10 EURPayment >= 8 EUR to <= 20 EURYes, the range from 8 EUR to 10 EUR overlaps.
Goal reached for Goal AGoal reached for Goal AYes, same goal-reached trigger.
Goal reached for Goal AGoal reached for Goal BNo, different goal.

If a conflict is found, a modal opens with the affected rules.

ButtonMeaning
Enable new & disable conflictsEnables the new rule and disables overlapping rules.
CancelLeaves everything unchanged.

Test Send

The Test Send button on a rule creates a test alert for that rule and places it in the queue. The rule template is rendered with test data.

Example test data:

FieldTest value
UsernameKALYIX
MessageThanks for the stream!
GoalNew microphone
Tip amount12.00 EUR
Intervalmonthly

This lets you check whether rule, template, queue, and OBS overlay work together.

Flow

  1. Create a template in the Alert Editor.
  2. Create a rule under Alerts.
  3. Enable the rule.
  4. If there is a conflict, decide which rule should stay active.
  5. Check with Test Send.
  6. Watch the OBS overlay. Details: OBS Overlays and OBS Setup.
