Alert Properties

Properties control the settings of the whole template and the selected block. On the right side of the Alert Editor, you see global settings and block settings.

Global Properties

PropertyMeaning
Canvas presetPredefined canvas size.
Width / heightCustom canvas size in pixels.
Global DurationTime for which the alert stays active overall.
Anchor pointPosition in the overlay, for example top left or center.
ZoomEditor view only, not the saved alert size.
TagsSearch and organization helper for templates.

Global Duration

Global Duration is important for OBS and queue behavior. It determines how long the template is shown before the next queue item can start.

Flow:

  1. Alert starts.
  2. Start animation runs.
  3. Alert stays visible.
  4. End animation runs.
  5. Alert disappears.
  6. Queue can show the next alert.

If duration is too short, there is barely any visible time between start and end animation.

Anchor Point

The anchor point determines where the alert area sits in the overlay.

GoalMatching Anchor Point
Alert top leftTop left
Alert top centerTop center
Alert centerCenter
Alert bottom rightBottom right

When OBS uses a large browser source, the anchor point is the most important lever for position.

Global Block Style

Global Block Style affects the shared alert area.

PropertyMeaning
Show BGEnable or disable background.
BG colorBackground color.
Show borderEnable or disable border.
Border colorBorder color.
Border widthBorder thickness.
RadiusRounding of the alert area.
Start animationEntry animation of the whole area.
Start durationShare of Global Duration used for entry animation.
End animationExit animation of the whole area.
End durationShare of Global Duration used for exit animation.

Block Properties

When a block is selected, additional properties appear for that block.

Typical block properties:

  • position and size
  • text or HTML content
  • colors and typography
  • custom animations
  • timing within Global Duration

Global animations and block animations can be combined. Use this deliberately: the global area can fade in while individual texts animate with a delay or a different style.
