Discord Webhook adapter
The Discord Webhook adapter sends KALYIX Tip events as ready-to-post Discord messages into a Discord channel. You do not need a Discord bot or your own server.
Use this adapter for simple channel messages: new tips, test events, and later other allowed KALYIX events. Roles, commands, and server management are not part of this adapter.
Requirements
- A Discord server where you may create webhooks for a channel.
- A Discord webhook URL.
- The Discord Webhook adapter in the Extensions Dashboard.
- Enabled events and fields, for example
Tip paid,amount,currency, anddisplayName.
Create a Discord webhook URL
- Open Discord.
- Open the server and channel where KALYIX should post.
- Open the channel settings.
- Go to
Integrations. - Open
Webhooks. - Create a new webhook or use an existing one.
- Copy the webhook URL.
The URL looks roughly like this:
https://discord.com/api/webhooks/123456789/abcdef...
Do not share this URL publicly. Anyone with the URL can post into that Discord channel.
Set up KALYIX
- Open the Extensions Dashboard.
- Enable the
Discord Webhookadapter. - Use
Add targetif you want another Discord target. - Enter the Discord webhook URL.
- Write the Discord message.
- Enable the
Tip paidevent. - Select the fields you want to use in the message.
- Save the selection.
- Save the Discord configuration.
- Use
Send testto verify the channel.
You can create up to 5 Discord webhook targets. This lets you send messages to different servers or channels from the same KALYIX account.
Build a message with tokens
In the Discord message field, write normal Discord Markdown text and insert KALYIX tokens.
Example:
Thank you {{displayName}} for {{amount}} {{currency}}!
Message:
{{message}}
Tokens are only filled when the matching field is enabled and saved in the dashboard. If you use {{message}} but do not allow the message field, the token stays empty.
Available tokens
The token list in the dashboard shows the values available for this target based on your saved selection.
Typical Tip tokens are:
| Token | Meaning |
|---|---|
{{amount}} | Amount, for example 10. |
{{amountCents}} | Amount in cents, for example 1000. |
{{currency}} | Currency, for example EUR. |
{{username}} | Technical username, if available. |
{{displayName}} | Display name, if available. |
{{message}} | Supporter message. |
{{goalId}} | Internal goal ID. |
{{goalTitle}} | Goal title. |
{{pageSlug}} | Tip page slug. |
{{createdAt}} | Event timestamp. |
{{isTest}} | Marks a test event. |
Not every event has every field. Enabled but empty fields are replaced with an empty value.
Send test
Send test creates a real extension test event for this exact Discord target. It uses the same delivery flow as a real tip.paid event, but it is not stored as a real payment in Tip payment history.
If no message appears in Discord:
- Check that the Discord webhook URL is saved.
- Check that the target is switched
On. - Check that
Tip paidis enabled and saved. - Check that Discord still allows the webhook.
- Check the history in the Extensions Dashboard for errors.
Difference to Raw Webhook
Discord Webhook builds a Discord message and sends it directly to Discord.
Raw Webhook sends raw KALYIX JSON data to your own server. Do not enter a Discord webhook URL into the Raw Webhook adapter, because Discord does not understand KALYIX JSON.
Use:
| Goal | Adapter |
|---|---|
| Discord channel without your own server | Discord Webhook |
| Own server, automation, or mapper | Raw Webhook |
| Streamer.bot alerts | Streamer.bot |
Difference to the Discord Bot
The Discord Webhook adapter can post messages. It cannot assign roles, run commands, check members, or manage servers.
Those features belong in a separate KALYIX Discord Bot later.
